Jacob Saying
On Thursday when Jacob went to bed Kevin was on the computer in his office. The next morning Kevin woke up early to check his email and Jacob woke up and came into his office. He said "Daddy you forgot to go to bed" It was cute that he thought Daddy had stayed in his office through the night.

Some Family Pictures
In October I took the kids to a portrait studio and got some pictures finally of them together. They did such a good job. We waited for over an hour and both were still very happy. Jacob loved having his picture being taken. He wanted to have more when we were done.
Our two wonderful and beautiful children.
Erin being oh sooo... cute.

Trick or Treating - October 31, 2008
Of we course we went trick or treating with the kids. ERin was an adorable pumpkin and Jacob was obviously a race care driver (in a motorcycle driver outfit, because we couldn't find a costume in his size that he liked. He couldn't tell the difference so we just told him that it was a race car driver costume. It worked like a charm) We went trunk or treating at the church first, then Kevin took Jacob around the neighborhood for more candy while Susan and Erin stayed home and handed out candy. Jacob was very excited. I think now he gets that at each house he gets candy and that he doesn't have to give away his candy to them. When he was almost 2 years old and we went out trick or treating he was handing his candy at the door because he thought he had to give candy away. it was cute. But now he demands candy at the doors, but in a nice way.

Pumpkin Carving - October 26, 2008
Instead of carving pumpkins this year, we just decorated pumpkins. Much more kid-friendly and whole lot easier to clean up. yeah. Jacob had a blast. He picked out his pumpkin at the pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago with his preschool class and had been waiting to decorate it. He picked out the Mr. Potatoe Vampire decor, we had the other one from the last few years. Again, poor Erin had gone to bed, maybe next year she will be able to participate.

Erin is 6 months - WOW
Erin and Jacob - Family LOVE
Jacob is so good with Erin. He is such a big helper and always wanting to help mommy with Erin. Erin is just fascinated with watching Jacob play. She has to be where Jacob is. I love watching them interact with each other. Jacob often plays peek a boo with her or sings to her. I hope that this continues for several years. (I can only wish)

Pumpkin Patch Outing
Jacob was able to go to a pumpkin patch with his preschool class last Thursday. He was able to see lots of animals, go on a wagon ride, go through a pumpkin patch, and pick out a pumpkin to take home. He had lots of fun with all his friends. He wasn't too fond of the animals. I couldn't get him to stand near an animal at all. Which is kind of funny since he loves going to the zoo and looking at all the animals. Anyways, they had a pirate boat which they were all able to play pirates with swords which Jacob loved. Here are some pictures from that day.

Erin Growing Up Too Fast
Erin is growing up before our eyes. She has gotten the scooting on her belly down, now she is trying to crawl. Today she just got up on her hands and knees and figured out that is the way to move. She can't hold that position for very long, but I'm thinking she is going to be on the move within the next month. I need to get on the ball and baby proof the house. She loves butternut squash and apples. And she sure does love her daddy. Everytime she hears his voice and gets a big smile and trys to look for him, it is the cutest thing. We love her lots.
Jacob's First Day of Preschool
Jacob's first day of Preschool was the 8th. He just loved it. He was excited about bringing his backpack and snack. Mom has a little difficult time on the 1st day with missing him, but she got quickly over that and has enjoyed one-on-one time with Erin. Everyday after preschool Jacob is so excited about telling Mom what he learned and did at preschool. He's already asking to have his preschool friends over to play. Great way for him to get to know more kids his age.
Next month they will be going to a pumpkin patch as a class, and then in November and December they have skits and special dinners planned for the kids. Very impressed with this preschool.

Odd sayings from Jacob
Throughout the last several months, Jacob has said the cutest things and we wanted to share them with everyone.
First,
While we were coming home from our camping trip today, Jacob and Daddy were playing a silly game. They were calling each other different things such as; trains, sponge, washcloth, etc. Well Jacob out of the blue said "Daddy, you are a compost bucket"
Both Kevin and I had to laugh, because we had no idea that he even knew this word.
Second,
During a Primary Sharing time lesson a couple of weeks ago, one of the primary counselors was teaching about baptism and what it is and at what age each child gets to be baptized. She asked Jacob if he wanted to be baptized and Jacob responded:
"No, I'm going to skip eight and go to nine. I don't want to be baptized, I want to take a bath."
The next family home evening lesson was about baptism to clarify any questions Jacob had.
We will post more as he says them. He is getting to a stage where he is repeating everything we say even when he has no idea what he is saying. It is adorable, well most of the time.

First Family Camping Trip
This weekend we went down to Battleground Lake and camped. It was the first time that Jacob could remember. We rented a cabin and realized that is the way to go. We had lots of fun. Jacob was wanting to check to make sure everything was okay, especially the fire. He roasted marshmellows and we sang campfire songs (sort of, if you can say the abc song is one). He was able to play in the lake both Friday and Saturday. We couldn't believe how deep he wanted to get, this is the boy who hates taking baths. Both times he made friends. Whenever he see any kids he automatically says "mom, look at my friends" even though he doesn't know them. We also hiked around the lake and Jacob loved that and well Erin slept through it in the baby carrier. Erin had a hard time with camping, but she was okay. We think she is coming down with a flu bug sot that would explain some of her crankiness.

Jacob is anxiously waiting until September 8th, when he gets to start Preschool. He is very excited. He has a backpack, new school supplies, and some new clothes for preschool.
Erin is slowly getting more continous sleep through the night, however she is still waking up 2 times, but she is asleep within 10 minutes after. She is loving her fingers and is always trying to get them in her mouth. She started teething at 2 months and we are awaiting her first teeth. She had a 4 month checkup on August 22nd, and she was 13 lbs and 14 oz and 25 inches long. She has come a long way since she was born.
Kevin & Susan are keeping very busy with work, kids, and church. Kevin was able to attend the APA conference in Boston, MA. And as soon as he came home he turned around and went with the young men river rafting for 4 days.
Susan is planning on running a 5K on September 20th and then will be running a 10K on November 22nd.
I hope I can keep everyone updated every week and post new pictures. Have a great week.
